Tropical Fish Make Great Pets
Apistogramma cacatuoides are a member of the dwarf cichlid family, a tropical fish variety that’s known for its small size and striking colour formations. However, although there are a number of similarities between each dwarf cichlid variety, there are also several distinctions that make apisto cacatuoides unique and easily recognisable in comparison.
Apistogramma cacatuoides are a particularly small variety of dwarf cichlid. Although dwarf cichlids rarely grow to more than 4.5 inches in length, apisto cacatuoides are even smaller, with males growing to a maximum length of 3 inches and females no longer than 2 inches.

Males also tend to live in harem communities, so for apisto cacatuoides to thrive it’s advisable to have one male to several females.
Apistogramma cacatuoides are much hardier than many other dwarf cichlid varieties, and although care needs to be taken with water conditions they aren’t as sensitive to things like temperature and water hardness as other tropical fish. Apistogramma cacatuoides will thrive in water of moderate hardness and neutral pH level, and in temperatures of anywhere between 74 and 80 degrees.
The characteristics of apistogramma cacatuoides not only make them an especially beautiful and hardy variety of tropical fish, but also one of the most popular dwarf cichlid species.
