When you are looking for an education in this field you must be able to differentiate between the schools that provide you with a specific education and certification in IT and the schools that will just teach you about technology or computer systems.
Every year the Technology Accreditation Commission releases a new set of criteria that are required for a certificate of completion. A Baccalaureate program must consist of a minimum of 124 semester hours or 186 quarter hours of credit.
The Associate degree programs must consist of a minimum of 64 semester hours of 96 quarter hours of credit. The classes are specific to the specialty and they must be taught by competent teachers.
Within the curriculum of this study there are many different aspects of the field that must be integrated. You will need to understand different aspects of communications, mathematics, physical and natural science, social sciences and humanities and technical content.
There must be facilities that can facilitate the learning process of the subject manner. This will include laboratories and the associated equipment necessary to program educational objectives in an atmosphere conducive to learning.
Looking over all of the requirements will be most beneficial as you are choosing where you want to be educated. There are standards in the educational objectives, program outcomes, assessment and evaluation.
Throughout the program you will want a way in which you can document your progress. There is absolutely no point in being a part of a program that allows you to be stagnant.
