The Law of Attracting and Money: Developing the Mindset of Abundance
Living an abundant life is a universal desire; but unfortunately, not many people know the “rules” of attracting money, and they continue to flounder in the world of lack and limitation. The law of attraction spells out a framework for living in abundance. And even though these principles are not widely known, they are fairly simple to understand and to incorporate into your daily life.
Among other things, the law of attraction completely dismisses the idea that money is “bad” or “evil.” It encourages a positive attitude about money and wealth in general, and this attitude is actually based much more on “reality” that the assumption of lack and scarcity that is so common in the world.
In order to attract money (or anything else), we need to begin by feeling good about it and learning to appreciate it. Otherwise, it just won’t work; our unconscious will prevent us from acquiring something that feels (deep down) like a bad thing. In fact, unless we confront these (sometimes hidden) beliefs and deal with them, the mind can actually steer us in the opposite direction –toward lack and limitation. And who wants that?
The law of attraction teaches that it is critical to be comfortable with money–even big money, and to understand that the world we live in is abundant in ALL ways. This can seem hard to accept at first. Most of us grow up learning that there is scarcity and lack in the world, and assuming that it is the order of the day. With this belief it’s hard to attract wealth, or anything else you want. When the mind focuses on lack, it effectively closes the door on possibility and capability. All progress comes to a halt.
And sadly, as long as most people stick to this limiting belief, most people will continue to have money problems and not live an abundant life. Everything you achieve or don’t achieve in life will spring from your thoughts and beliefs. If your thought’s and beliefs are of lack and scarcity, you just not going to get very far.
So what’s the answer?
First you need to start questioning the beliefs, attitude and assumptions you make about what you are capable of and even life itself. Asking the “right” questions is the starting point for understanding your capabilities in a different way, and learning the truth: that the world we live in is filled with abundance, while lack and scarcity are mere illusions, no matter how prevalent or “real” they may seem to be.
It can really help to visualize ourselves having huge sums of money (and all the other things we desire). This helps us create an abundant frame of mind, and to focus on attracting money and prosperity, not lack or limitation. Now, at first your mind may balk at the idea of you living and abundant life. And you may tend to revert back to the old paradigms of lack for a while. But the more you entertain the idea of abundance in your life — including financial abundance — the more it begins to seem a real possibility for you, and perhaps even inevitable.
Here’s another issue which must be overcome: most people struggle through their lives, attempting to make themselves happy with very little. Like almost all human problems, this is because of fear. When I was a child one of my relatives used to say, “don’t expect too much of life, and that way you won’t be disappointed.” And you know what? He was absolutely right.
If you don’t expect much, you are not likely to achieve much. Doing this may keep you from experiencing big disappointments in your life, but you know what they say: “nothing ventured, nothing gained.”
You have to take a chance to get anywhere in life. You can not always take the comfortable or easy way out, no matter how tempting it can be sometimes. When people try to avoid disappointment by not asking for much, it always reminds me of someone sleepwalking. For some people, maybe that’s enough. But wouldn’t you really prefer to wake up and actually experience life and make the most of it?
Once you begin asking the right questions, and not taking the old beliefs in paradigms for granted, you’ll definitely be on the right track. From there it is simply a matter of learning to “see” yourself living the life you want to live, and perfecting the art of visualization so that it seems more and more “real.” As the old biblical quote says (and the title of the James Allen book), “as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.
